Bülent Tanör

Bülent Tanör (* 1940 in Istanbul ; † November 28, 2002 there ) was a Turkish legal scholar .

Life

After graduating from Galatasaray High School , Tanör studied law at the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University . In 1963 he became a research assistant and received his doctorate in 1969. After the military coup of September 12, 1980 and the state of siege in 1983, he was dismissed in accordance with Law No. 1402 of May 13, 1971. Between 1983 and 1990 he was a lecturer at the Universities of Paris-Nanterre , Burgundy and Geneva . In 1990 he returned to Istanbul University and became a professor in 1992.

In 1998 he received the Sedat Simavi Prize for Social Sciences.

Tanör died on November 28, 2002 as a result of cancer.
