Paris-Nanterre University
The University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense or University of Paris X was founded in 1964 to relieve the Sorbonne . Its extensive university campus is two kilometers from La Défense and five kilometers from the center of Paris . With 27 hectares, it is the second largest campus in France after the University of Nantes .
The university now has 35,000 students. The special library on the history of the 20th century, the Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine (BDIC), is affiliated to it.
