The University of Clermont-Ferrand ( French Université de Clermont-Ferrand ) was the state university of Auvergne. Two different universities have existed in the south-east French city of Clermont-Ferrand since 1969 , as a result of the restructuring by the Loi Faure in the French university system in the wake of the student unrest of 1968. Both are in the city, which is the center of the Auvergne region .

The city's two universities are:
