The University of Pau , with its full official name Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour ( University of Pau and the Adour Region , also UPPA ) is a university in the French city of Pau with branches in the area, for example in Bayonne , Tarbes and in Mont-de-Marsan .
The university was founded in 1971 and currently has around 12,000 students, which makes Pau the third most important university city in the south-west of France after Bordeaux and Toulouse .

Pau
With around 9,000 students, the main campus in Pau is still by far the largest at the university. In addition to the central facilities such as the university library, the Faculty (UFR: Unité de recherche et de formation) for literature, language and human sciences, the Faculty of Law and Economics and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology are located there.
UFR for Law, Economics, Business Management - IAE
The Faculty of Law, Economics and Management, together with the IAE (Institut d'Administration des Entreprises or FDEG-IAE), has around 3,000 students.
Bayonne
Around 2,500 students study in Bayonne.
Tarbes
700 students study in Tarbes. There is a STAPS (Sports Education).
Mont-de-Marsan
There are another 300 students here.
