Harald Thun

Harald Thun (born August 7, 1945 in Falkenberg ) is a German Romance studies and linguist.

Life

Thun studied French and history at the Universities of Kiel , Tübingen and Pau . After graduating in France and Germany, as well as editing in Bucharest , he was assistant to Eugenio Coseriu in Tübingen and Horst Geckeler in Münster . He received his doctorate in Tübingen with the dissertation Problems of Phraseology. Studies on repeated speech with examples from French, Italian, Spanish and Romanian (Niemeyer, Tübingen 1978, 2013) and qualified as a professor in Münster with the writing of personal pronouns for things. A contribution to Romance syntax and text linguistics (Narr, Tübingen 1986). Then he was professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 1985 to 1993 and then (until his retirement in 2011) at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . From 2001 to 2003 he was chairman of the German Romanists Association . His academic focus includes linguistic and geographical research in South America (Uruguay and the surrounding area), especially on the Guaraní language . Since 2006 he has also been researching the history of the French substandard .
