Mahamane Laouali Dan-Dah

Mahamane Laouali Dan-Dah (* 1966 ) is a Nigerien lawyer and politician .

Life

Mahamane Laouali Dan-Dah studied at the University of Niamey in Niger, which he graduated in 1989 with a maîtrise in law . He then attended the École nationale de la magistrature in France , where he obtained a diploma as a judge and prosecutor in 1992 .

Dan-Dah served as assistant prosecutor at the Niamey Tribunal from 1992 to 1997 . In the course of this he was also responsible for the management of the judicial police. From 1994 he also worked as a lecturer at Niamey University. In 1995 he was a member of a state commission responsible for auditing public administration as well as state and state-related companies. From 1997 to 1998 he served as a judge for civil , commercial and customary cases in the Niamey III municipality . He also acted as general secretary of the autonomous union of judges and prosecutors of Niger, which he represented in international bodies. Dan-Dah served as President of the independent national electoral commission CENI from August 1998 to April 1999.

On April 16, 1999, he was appointed Minister for Justice and Human Rights in the government of Transitional Head of State Daouda Malam Wanké . Dan-Dah held this office until January 5, 2000, when he was replaced by Ali Sirfi in the new government of Head of State Mamadou Tandja .

Dan-Dah was General Director of the Niger Horizons Research Office from 2001. He received his doctorate in law from the University of Pau in France in 2004 . In his dissertation he dealt with the legal concept of the decentralized management of natural resources in Niger. He worked as a director or member of various state bodies. Among other things, he was the national coordinator for combating illegal drug use and drug trafficking and a member of an inter-ministerial committee for the privatization of state-owned companies.

From March 1, 2010 to April 21, 2011, Mahamane Laouali Dan-Dah was again a member of the government of an interim head of state, this time the government of Salou Djibo . He has served as Minister for Secondary Schools, Colleges and Scientific Research and as a government spokesman.
