Nigerien students are supported by the Center des Œuvres Universitaires, among other things with accommodation in student dormitories. However, the dormitories are severely overcrowded. The study conditions are the cause of frequent student protests .

The theater ensemble Troupe Mourna ( Hausa for "joy"), consisting mainly of students, established itself at the end of the 20th century as one of the five regularly performing theater groups from Niger. The others were the company of Yazi Dogo in the Center Culturel Oumarou Ganda , the theater ensembles of the state broadcaster ORTN in Niamey and Zinder , the Messagers du Sahel under the direction of Azonhon Faton and Les Tréteaux du Niger under the direction of Achirou Wagé . The Troupe Mourna specialized in political satire .
