Lokoto

Lokoto is a hamlet in the Niamey V Arrondissement of the city of Niamey in Niger .
The hamlet is located on the edge of the rural area at the transition to the urban area of Niamey V. North-east of Lokoto is the district of Nordiré . To the northwest of the settlement rises the striking rocky chain of hills Trois Sœurs ("three sisters"), the three peaks of which with exposed laterite reach heights of 245 m , 254 m and 255 m .
The place name Lokoto refers to the plant species Euphorbia poissonii in the Dendi language .
At the 2012 census, Lokoto had 903 residents who lived in 133 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 167 in 25 households.
The Foundation Tattali Iyali of Malika Issoufou , the wife of President Mahamadou Issoufou , had a French - Arabic school built in Lokoto from 2013 to 2014 with the support of the Turkish non-governmental organization ASMA .
