Gorou Banda is a village in the Niamey V arrondissement of the city of Niamey in Niger .

That of a traditional village chief (chef traditionnel) led village is located on the River Niger in the east of the rural area of Niamey V, at the state border with Burkina Faso leading National Straße 27 . The surrounding settlements include the village of Saga Gourma in the northwest, the village of Timéré in the southeast and the hamlets of Dantcha and Langayé in the south. A dry valley that flows into the Niger runs near Gorou Banda . The word gorou comes from the Zarma language and means "dry valley". The Zarma- Postposition banda called "after, behind." The place name Gorou Banda can therefore be translated as "behind the dry valley".

Gorou Banda already existed in the 1970s when the city of Niamey began to expand to the right bank of the Niger. The village was outside the city limits of Niamey until the end of the 20th century and belonged to the arrondissement of Kollo .

At the 2012 census, Gorou Banda had 328 inhabitants who lived in 42 households. At the 1988 census, the population was 93 in 15 households.

The Gorou Banda diesel power plant , which went into operation in 2017, is located near the hamlet .
