Kariel I (also: Karel , Karayel ) is a hamlet in the Niamey V arrondissement of the city of Niamey in Niger .

The hamlet is located on the national road 6 leading to the state border with Burkina Faso in the west of the rural area of ​​Niamey V. The surrounding settlements include the hamlets of Kolonsa in the northeast, Djadjiré in the east, Hama Gatio in the south and Kariel II in the west. The 17 kilometer long dry valley Kourtéré Gorou , which flows into the Niger River behind Kourtéré, runs near Kariel I.

At the 2012 census, Kariel I had 718 inhabitants who lived in 127 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 681 in 103 households.

There is a primary school in the hamlet.
