Nordiré (also: Nodiré ) is a district ( French quartier ) in the Arrondissement Niamey V of the city of Niamey in Niger .

geography

The district is located on the southwestern edge of the urban area of ​​Niamey V. East of Northern Ire is the district of Banga Bana , to the north, across the national road 6 , the informal settlement of Zarmagandey . Nordiré lies on an alluvial soil with a high water table that does not allow infiltration. To the west of the district rises the striking rocky chain of hills Trois Sœurs ("three sisters"), the three peaks of which with exposed laterite reach heights of 245  m , 254  m and 255  m .

history

Nordiré was a small settlement of simple huts as early as the 1970s, when the city of Niamey began to expand onto the right bank of the Niger. The growth into a larger city district started after 1990.

population

At the 2012 census, Northern Ireland had 3,631 inhabitants living in 528 households.

Infrastructure

In Nordiré there is a Collège d'enseignement général (CEG), a middle school and several elementary schools.
