Adamou Idé (born November 22, 1951 in Niamey ) is a Nigerien writer .

Life and literary creation

Adamou Idé graduated from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne with a Maîtrise en droit . He also holds a degree in management from the Paris Institute International d'Administration Publique . Idé worked as a functionary for the Niger government and the Agence de Coopération Culturelle et Technique , the predecessor organization of the International Organization of the Francophonie . As an expert in vocational training and public service, he has taught at the Ecole Nationale d'Administration and at the Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey.

In 1981 Idé won the Prix ​​national de Poésie , a Nigerien prize for poetry. His first literary publication followed in 1984 with the collection of poems Cri inachevé . In addition to poetry , he dedicates himself to writing novels . He writes in French , the official language of Niger, and in his mother tongue, Songhai-Zarma . Against the background of the cultures and traditions of Niger, he shows undesirable social developments and injustices in his humanistic and often humorous works. In 1996 Adamou Idé was awarded the Prix ​​Boubou Hama national literature prize. He is also the bearer of the Knight's Cross of the Nigerien Order of Merit.
