The property at St.-Annen-Straße 17 in Lübeck is a registered cultural monument in Lübeck's old town .

history

The corner property on Düvekenstrasse was first mentioned in 1297. In 1495 the building was handed down as a house with seven booths, which were inhabited by the poor. The Gothic eaves houses in Düvekenstrasse 1–9 from 1491 are still today under the same roof as the building. The property has been part of St. Anne's Monastery since 1504 . The corner house was rebuilt in 1810 in the classical style. At that time the monastery was used as a breeding and work house in Lübeck. The house is called the surgeon's house because it served the doctor of the Lübeck poor house as a residence until 1874, i.e. before the monastery was later converted into a museum. Since then, the house has been used by the Museum of Art and Cultural History of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck.
