Boubé Gado
Boubé Gado (* 1944 in Filingué ; † September 8, 2015 ) was a Nigerien historian and politician .
Life
Boubé Gado went to elementary schools in Filingué and Tahoua , followed by attending the normal school in Zinder , which he graduated with a Baccalauréat in 1965 . The following year he did a preparatory course at the Université d'Abidjan in Ivory Coast . He then studied at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar in Senegal , where he received a license ès lettres in history in 1968 . Gado continued his university studies in France . In 1976 he made a maîtrise in history at the University of Paris VIII and in 1979 a doctorate in history and African civilizations at the Sorbonne .
Gado worked for decades in teaching and research at the Abdou Moumouni University Niamey . There he worked as a researcher at the Institut de Recherches en Sciences Humaines (IRSH) and as a lecturer at the Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines (FLSH). From 1970 to 2000 he headed the Department of Art and Archeology at the IRSH. From 1985 to 1992 and from 2000 to 2003 he was also director of the IRSH.
Boubé Gado was appointed Minister of Education and Research in the interim government on March 27, 1992 under Prime Minister Amadou Cheiffou . In this office he succeeded Albert Wright . In the government of April 23, 1993 under President Mahamane Ousmane , Gado was replaced as Minister of Education and Research by Garba Djibo . Boubé Gado also served as President of the Association Ouest-Africaine d'Archéologie and the NGO S.OS - Patrimoine as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nigerien National Museum .
Gado was married and had seven children. He was buried at Yantala Muslim Cemetery in Niamey .
