Yantala Muslim Cemetery
The Muslim Cemetery of Yantala ( French : Cimetière Musulman de Yantala ) is an Islamic cemetery in the city of Niamey in Niger .
Area
The Muslim Cemetery of Yantala is located in the west of the Yantala Haut district in the Niamey I arrondissement . It is located in a plateau with a layer of sand more than 2.5 meters deep. The cemetery covers an area of 55.2 hectares . He is surrounded by a wall.
In the 1970s, the cemetery was outside the city limits in the middle of a treeless arable area. Heavy rains regularly lead to damage. Part of the cemetery wall broke away in 2016 and several graves were churned up by rainfall in 2017.
