Ali Sirfi

Ali Sirfi (born January 1, 1955 in Dessa ) is a Nigerien lawyer and politician .

Life

Ali Sirfi studied law at the University of Abidjan , where he obtained his license en droit in 1981 and his maîtrise en droit in 1982 . He then attended the law school in Rouen , France, from 1982 to 1984 . In 1985 he took his oath of service before the Niger Bar Association , in which he subsequently held higher positions such as that of General Secretary. Sirfi was the Bar Association's representative at the 1991 National Conference that coordinated Niger's transition to a multi-party system . From 1993 to 1995 he was chairman of the Union of Niger Young Lawyers.

Sirfi was elected an independent to the National Assembly in the 1996 general election. He has served on parliamentary committees for general and institutional affairs, as well as economic affairs and planning. He was also a member of the parliament of the West African Economic and Monetary Union for Niger . Ali Sirfi served under President Mamadou Tandja and Prime Minister Hama Amadou from 2000 to 2001 as Minister for Justice and Relations with Parliament. In 2010 he became President of the Niger Bar Association. In 2016 he was appointed Médiateur de la République (for example: Ombudsman of the Republic) to succeed Amadou Cheiffou .

Ali Sirfi is married and has five children.
