The University of Lille I ( French : Université Lille 1 , from 1970 to 2009 Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille ) is a public university in Villeneuve d'Ascq ( Département Nord ) in the greater Lille area in France .
It was founded in 1854 as the Faculté des sciences de Lille . Their locations were in Lille . The campus has been in Villeneuve d'Ascq since 1970.
