Claude Auguste Lamy (born July 15, 1820 in Ney , Jura department , † March 20, 1878 in Paris ) was a French chemist and physicist .

Live and act

Lamy was from 1854 professor of physics at the Université de Lille and from 1865 professor of chemistry at the École Centrale Paris .

He discovered in 1862 regardless of William Crookes , the thallium . While Crookes made the discovery through spectral analysis of the lead chamber sludge , Lamy was the first to isolate the element thallium by means of electrolysis.
