The University of the Mediterranean Aix-Marseille II ( French : Université de la Mediterranée Aix-Marseille II ) is one of three state universities in the greater Marseille area . Their locations are Aix-en-Provence , Gap and Marseille. It was founded in 1969.

It is named after the Mediterranean Sea on whose coast the city of Marseille is located.

history

The university was founded as part of the reorganization of the French universities by the Loi Faure in 1968 from parts of the University of Aix-Marseille . In 1994 the university was renamed “Universite de la Mediterranée”.

Division into departments and locations

There are three departments: Health and Medicine (Secteur Santé) , Natural Sciences (Secteur Sciences) and Technology, People, Society (Secteur Sciences de l'Homme, de la Société et des Techniques) .
