Decimus Junius Silanus

Decimus Junius Silanus (* 107 BC or a little earlier; † around 60 BC) was a Roman senator of the late Republic .

Silanus was aedile in a not exactly known year after 75 BC. BC, at the latest 70 BC BC, and obviously gave splendid games, as had become customary. No later than 67 BC According to the rules of the Roman official career, he must have held the praetur , since he was 65 BC. BC, but unsuccessfully, applied for the consulate of the following year. Silanus was married to Servilia , a half-sister of the younger Cato and temporarily lover of Caesar. From her first marriage she had a son, the later Caesar murderer Marcus Iunius Brutus . Silanus and Servilia had three daughters together.

The list suggests that Silanus' year of office was after that of Quintus Hortensius Hortalus (75 BC). 70 BC BC is the latest eligible year in view of Silanus' application for the consulate for 64 BC.
