The University of Le Havre ( French : Université du Havre ) is located in Le Havre in northern France and has existed as an independent institution since 1984 .

development

A technology institute ( Institut Universitaire de Technologie - IUT ) was opened in Le Havre in 1967 . In 1970 a scientific and technical teaching and research facility followed ( Unité d'enseignement et de recherche - UER - des Sciences & Techniques ) and in 1972 a department for "International Affairs" ( Département "Affaires Internationales" ). All institutions were administratively part of the University of Rouen ( Université de Rouen ). The University of Le Havre was established by decree of August 27, 1984.

Facts

The campus is divided into three parts (Lebon, Frissar and Caucriauville). In the 2006/2007 academic year the university had 6,498 students. For 2007 it has a budget of 57.4 million euros (the main part - for salaries - comes from the French central government: 34.4 million euros).

There are the following departments:

  • Scientific-technical training and research institution ( Unité de formation et de recherche - UFR - des Sciences et Techniques ) - emerged from the UER des Sciences & Techniques ,
  • Faculty of International Affairs ( Faculté des Affaires Internationales ) - emerged from the "Affaires Internationales" department ,
  • Humanities training and research institution ( UFR des Lettres et Sciences Humaines ) - founded in 1998,
  • Technology Institute ( IUT ),
  • Higher Institute of Logistics Studies ( Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Logistiques ) - founded in 1994.
