The Center Sèvres , also Center Sèvres - Facultés jésuites de Paris , is a Jesuit private university in Paris .

history

The university, which specializes in theology and philosophy , was founded in 1974 by merging the theological faculty in Lyon-Fourvière and the philosophy faculty in Chantilly. It was named after the seat on Rue de Sèvres in Paris, next to the Church of St. Ignatius ( Église Saint-Ignace de Paris ). The sponsor is the Jesuit order province in France.

According to the Pope John Paul II. Wrote Apostolic Constitution Sapientia Christiana "On the ecclesiastical universities and faculties" of 15 April 1979, and the regulations of the Congregation for Catholic Education on 18 June 1986 was made papal approval.

Originally only members of the Jesuit order were trained at the university, but now other order members and lay people can also enroll in licentiate, master's and doctoral programs.
