Pierre Assouline (born April 17, 1953 in Casablanca ) is a French writer and journalist .

Life

Assouline spent his childhood in Casablanca, but his final school years in Paris, where he attended the Lycée Janson de Sailly . He then studied at the University of Paris-Nanterre and at the École des langues orientales .

Writer and journalist

Assouline has published more than twenty books, including some biographies , as well as several thousand articles and articles for newspapers, magazines and radio. He has worked as a reporter and commentator for various radio stations and is now one of the most widely read literary weblogs in France.

Critical attitude towards Wikipedia

In 2007, Pierre Assouline published several articles on his blog that heavily criticize Wikipedia. In addition, under his aegis, La Révolution Wikipédia: Les encyclopédies vont-elles mourir? (German: The Wikipedia Revolution: Will the (printed) encyclopaedias die out?) , which deals with the functionality and importance of the French Wikipedia in particular. The authors are the then journalism students Pierre Gourdain , Florence O'Kelly , Béatrice Roman-Amat , Delphine Soulas and Tassilo von Droste zu Hülshoff ; Assouline provided the foreword.

Part of the investigations were deliberately executed vandalism actions by the authors in Wikipedia in order to test in this way whether and how quickly the inserted errors are corrected again.
