La contemporaine

La Contemporaine (until 2018: Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine ; BDIC ) is a French library and at the same time a museum and archive , specializing in the history of the 20th century. Your seat is in Nanterre .

It goes back to a private collection on the history of the First World War . Donated to the state in 1917, it was founded under the name Bibliothèque et musée de la Guerre (War Library and War Museum). From 1934 to 2018 it was called Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine (International Contemporary Library and Documentation), and since 2018 it has had its current name.

La Contemporaine is institutionally affiliated with the University of Paris-Nanterre (University of Paris X).
