Hus-Museum Konstanz

The Hus Museum Konstanz is a museum in the city where Jan Hus died . It is located in the old town of Konstanz on Hussenstrasse at the Schnetztor. The life and work of Hus are presented.

Jan Hus was free in Constance from his arrival on November 3, 1414 until his arrest on November 28, 1414. During this time he lived with his companions with the widow Pfister in Paulsgasse. In the Richental Chronicle this was formulated as follows: “in the Pfistrinen hus an sant Paulsgassen”. Paulsgasse was renamed Hussenstrasse in 1873 and was renamed that way again after 1945.

Hus house

The house at Hussenstraße 64 is a half-timbered house from the 15th / 16th centuries. Century. It was acquired by the Czechoslovak state in 1922. In 1923 the Czechoslovak state transferred the house to the Hus Museum Society in Prague, which was founded in 1919. The Hus Memorial / Hus Museum was set up in the house at Hussenstrasse 64. The Hus Museum is one of the municipal museums in Constance.

It could not be proven beyond doubt that Hus lived right here.

exhibition

The exhibition shows the places of activity of Hus as dean, his way to Constance and the course of the process. The exhibits include facsimiles , photos and a multimedia test ("heretic test") for the visitors. The exhibition was reorganized by the Hussite Museum Tábor and the Hus Museum Society Prague in 2014 and is maintained by the Czech Ministry of Culture and the City of Constance. In 2014 the Hus Museum had 17,681 visitors.
