Former names of the Hussenstrasse

The Hussenstrasse was part of a trade route in north-south trade across the Alps . Until 1282 the street was called Reichsstraße. Then the part north of Pfauengasse became Paul sgasse and the part south of Pfauengasse became Stadelhofgasse. When the Konstanzer Strasse was named in 1876, Ludwig Leiner chose the name Hussenstrasse for the larger section from Schnetztor to Münzgasse. During the National Socialist era , the street was renamed Römerstraße. After the Second World War it became Hussenstrasse again. From 1965 the street became a pedestrian zone .
