Wilhelm Kleissle worked as a hairdresser in Switzerland until the First World War, and later as a carpenter. Since 1923 he had been a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, for whom he was missionary in Switzerland. Together with his wife and daughter Anna, he was involved in the smuggling of documents from Switzerland. In March 1937 he was arrested and sentenced to 6 months in prison, which he served in “protective custody” in Constance. After that he was kept in protective custody by the Gestapo. In May 1939 he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp, from there he was transferred to Mauthausen concentration camp in September, where he died on April 23, 1940. He had been married to Anna Kleissle (née Rost) since 1921. With her he had four children, Anna, Friedrich, Ruth and Lothar. The stumbling block was moved on May 22, 2009. |

Eduard Frank was born on May 25, 1873 in Konstanz. He graduated from high school in Konstanz, studied law in Freiburg, and then worked as a lawyer in Konstanz. He was one of nine Jewish lawyers in Konstanz. With the professional ban for lawyers in 1933, he was no longer allowed to work. During the pogrom night in Konstanz on November 9th / 10th, 1938, he was arrested and taken to the Konstanz prison on Wallgutstrasse, where he died on November 27th, 1938 under unexplained circumstances. He had been married to Hermine Frank (née Sulger) since August 4, 1924. They had two children: Hermione's daughter Gerda, whom he adopted, and a son, Lother (7.3.1925–17.3.1964). Wilhelm Schroff was born on March 11th, 1883 in Konstanz. After elementary school he worked for the Reichsbahn. Politically, he was involved in social democracy; from 1922 to 1930 Wilhelm Schroff was for the SPD in the Constance Citizens Committee. On August 22, 1944, he was arrested as part of the "Operation Grid " and sent to the Natzweiler concentration camp as a political prisoner without a trial. From there he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp on September 6, 1944, and a week later to the Mauthausen concentration camp. He was released on October 27, 1944 and returned to Konstanz. He died on March 22, 1959 in Konstanz. He was married to Elise Schroff (née Schiess). They had four children, Else, Klara, Erwin and Albert. The stumbling block was laid on September 13, 2015. |

Josefine Renker (née Schlegel) was born on February 13th, 1889 in Konstanz. On July 2nd, 1931 she was admitted to the Reichenau sanatorium because she was no longer mentally responsible. When Operation T4 began at the end of 1939 , her nine-year stay was her undoing. On June 27, 1940, she and 74 other women were deported to Grafeneck in the gray buses and gassed and cremated there on the same day. Officially, it was said that she died of tuberculosis. She was married to Karl Leo Renker (born August 31, 1891), they had two children, Ernst Josef (born July 10, 1924) and Karl Johann (born August 22, 1928). Charlotte Bloch (née Lazarus) was born on June 9, 1848 in Jüchen . Julie Mann (née Frank) was born on December 2, 1870 in Konstanz. In 1939 she and her husband Max had to sell their house due to anti-Jewish policies, but they still retained their right to live there. The Mann couple were among the 108 Jews in Konstanz who were arrested on October 22, 1940 and deported to Gurs by passenger train. They were later imprisoned in Récébédon and Noé. In the camp, Julie Mann fell ill with dysentery ; The couple would have starved to death had they not been provided with food parcels from the Spiegel family in Kreuzlingen. In 1942, when inmates were deported to Auschwitz, older inmates such as the Mann couple were placed in private homes at the instigation of the Archbishop of Lyon.
