UMF afturelding

Ungmennafélagið Afturelding , UMF Afturelding for short , is an Icelandic sports club from Mosfellsbær . The association was founded on April 11, 1909.

The club's soccer teams play their home games in Varmárvöllur, which can accommodate 500 people . In 2014, the first men's team plays in the 2nd deild karla , the third tier of the league, while the first women's team plays in the first-class Pepsi-deild kvenna . The association also offers badminton , basketball , gymnastics , handball , karate , athletics , swimming , taekwondo and volleyball .

Handball

In 1999 the men's team from UMF Afturelding won both the Icelandic championship and the cup for the only time so far. The best-known players were the record international Guðmundur Hrafnkelsson and Sverre Andreas Jakobsson .
