Yeni Asır

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeni Asır ( German  "New Century / Age" ) is a Turkish daily newspaper for the Aegean region . It appears every week with a print run of around 40,000 copies. This makes it the largest local newspaper in Turkey. The newspaper is based in Izmir and has offices in Ankara and Istanbul . The newspaper is now close to the AKP and is classified as nationalist - conservative . In our own opinion, it is to be classified as quality journalism .

The newspaper was founded as Asır on August 26, 1895 in Thessaloniki by Kebab member Fazlı Necip . In the first few years, many articles from foreign-language, especially French-language daily newspapers were republished in translation. The newspaper thus opened up a readership in Kosovo , Monastir and Thessaloniki. Necip followed an editorial line that supported the Committee for Unity and Progress , the most important organization of the Young Turks .
