Turkish Association of Journalists

The Turkish Journalists 'Association (TGC; Turkish Türkiye Gazeteciler Cemiyeti ) is the largest journalists' organization in Turkey with more than 3,600 members and is based in Istanbul .

history

It was founded on June 10, 1946 by Sedat Simavi , Sadun Galip Savcı , Cihat Baban , Hayri Alpar and Sait Kesler . TGC is an interest group for journalists from newspapers, magazines, radio and television. It performed an important democratic control function during the KCK and the Ergenekon trials.

The association is currently offering the Sedat Simavi Prize .
