Ryan Broekhoff (born August 23, 1990 in Frankston , Victoria ) is an Australian basketball player of Dutch descent.

career

Broekhoff, who comes from a Dutch family and has both Australian and Dutch citizenship, was born in Frankston, a suburb of Melbourne , and grew up there. As a teenager, he played basketball for the Frankston Blues. He then spent two years training at the Australian Institute of Sport , before moving to Valparaiso University in the United States in 2009 . For "Valpo" Broekhoff played a total of 134 games until 2013 and achieved average values ​​of 11.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per match. With 252 three-point throws, Broekhoff took second place in this category at the time of his departure from Valparaiso University in the all-time list of the university team's best.

He switched to the professional field in 2013 and played for Besiktas Istanbul in Turkey until 2015 . Three years followed with the Russian Lokomotive Kuban association . Broekhoff also competed in European club competitions with Besiktas and Kuban. In the 2017/18 season he drew attention to himself in the Eurocup in particular with his accuracy in throwing from distance, he converted 50.6 percent of his "threes" in 16 Eurocup missions. In August 2018 he was signed by the NBA club Dallas Mavericks . In February 2020, the Texans deleted him from the squad after he had scored an average of 4.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per match in the NBA in the previous 2019/20 season. He was signed by the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2020 .

National team

Broekhoff reached the semifinals of the U19 World Cup in 2009 with the Australian junior national team. With the men's national team , he took part in the 2016 Summer Olympics and finished fourth.
