Furkan Korkmaz (born July 24, 1997 in Bakırköy ) is a Turkish basketball player .

career

In 2014, Korkmaz moved from second division Pertevniyal SK to first division top team Anadolu Efes SK . As early as the 2014/15 season, he also played in the EuroLeague . Korkmaz signed up for the NBA draft in 2016 and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers , who put him 26th in the process. However, Korkmaz stayed in his home country for the time being, moving from Anadolu Efes to Banvit within the first division during the 2016/17 season.

In early July 2017, Philadelphia exercised its rights to the Turk and provided him with a contract. In the 2017/18 season he commuted between the NBA and the NBA G-League , and missed parts of the game year due to a foot injury.

National team

In 2014 he was U18 European champion with the Turkish national team and a year later he was third in the U19 World Cup. Also in 2015 he won silver at the U18 European Championship and was the best basket scorer of the Turkish selection with 16.1 points per tournament. At the 2019 World Cup, Korkmaz was the top performer of the Turkish national team with 11.8 points per match.
