The 2019-20 NBA season marks the National Basketball Association's 74th season . The regular season began on October 22, 2019. The end of the regular season was originally scheduled for April 15, 2020, before the postseason should begin on April 18, 2020 .
After the games of March 11, 2020, the game time was interrupted until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic , after Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz tested positive for the virus and the game between Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz was canceled at short notice has been. It will be resumed on July 30th as part of the 2020 NBA Bubble safety concept developed by the NBA and will be played to the end.

- Several significant changes took place on July 6th:
- In a 3-team trade, Anthony Davis moved to the Los Angeles Lakers . In return, Lonzo Ball , Brandon Ingram , Josh Hart and several draft picks were sent to the New Orleans Pelicans . - On July 16, Houston Rockets traded Chris Paul for Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Seasonal awards
Due to the pandemic- related interruption, only the games up to the interruption were taken into account when awarding the seasonal awards. For the games in the NBA Bubble , there was an additional award given by the players for the best player in the seeding games , which Damian Lillard ( Portland Trail Blazers ) received, as well as for the best coach ( Monty Williams , Phoenix Suns ).
