Alec Jacoby "Coby" White (born February 16, 2000 in Goldsboro , North Carolina ) is an American basketball player who plays in the position of point guard , but can also switch to that of shooting guard .

High school and college

White played basketball at Greenfield School in Wilson , North Carolina . There he scored 3,573 points in four years and broke the 14-year-old school record. In his high school days he was also named North Carolina Mr. Basketball, an award that players like Chris Paul , Reggie Bullock and Bam Adebayo had previously received. After his time at Greenfield, he decided to play college basketball for the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . He made his debut on November 6, 2018 in the game against Wofford , in which he was able to collect eight points and three assists. During his freshman season, White improved a lot. On February 26, 2019, he scored 34 points against Syracuse . On March 5, he passed with his 461st point at 76: 66 win over Boston none other than Michael Jordan in the freshman points ranking of the university. By the end of the season, he increased this value to 562 points. On April 3, after a year in college, White signed up for the 2019 NBA Draft , where many experts identified him as a candidate for one of the top ten places. That prediction was confirmed in June 2019 when the Chicago Bulls called him seventh.
