Youth and college

Dunn grew up in difficult circumstances. His mother left Dunn's father, John Seldon, very early. When she later had to go to jail, Kris Dunn and his older brother John were on their own. It was only years later that Seldon found his two sons, whom he has looked after ever since.

Dunn played for Providence College for four years . Due to a serious shoulder injury, he only played four games in his sophomore year of college, making this season a red shirt. In his third year of college, Dunn had a breakthrough and received several awards, including Best Player and Conference Defender. Although he piqued the interest of many NBA teams, Dunn decided to do another year of college. Once again he won the most important awards of his conference and also completed his studies. He decided to sign up for the NBA Draft .
