career

In 2015, Patton graduated from high school. During his senior season at Omaha North High School in Omaha , he achieved averages of 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.6 blocked opposing throws. He decided to accept a scholarship offer from Creighton University , took part in the training of the college's basketball team in the 2015/16 season, but did not appear in any competitive game as a freshman . His only use in the Creighton shirt was in a friendly against Upper Iowa University, in which he scored seven points and collected two rebounds.

He made his competitive debut for Creighton on November 11, 2016 in a meeting with the team from the University of Missouri-Kansas City . Patton posted twelve counters and eight rebounds in this game. In the course of the 2016/17 season he was on the field in 35 games and was part of the team's initial formation 34 times. He finished his sophomore year with averages of 12.9 points, 6.2 rebounds per encounter and a total of 50 blocked throws. Patton's high hit rate in field throws caused a stir, at 67.6 percent, which meant the second best value in the entire NCAA .

At the beginning of April 2017, Patton declared his university career over. In the 2017 NBA draft , the Chicago Bulls secured the rights to Patton, but transferred them to the Minnesota Timberwolves . In return, Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn moved from Minnesota to Chicago, and the Bulls also received the rights to the Finnish youngster Lauri Markkanen . Also the subject of this swap was Jimmy Butler's move to Minnesota. On July 4, 2017, the Timberwolves signed Patton. On the same day, the team announced that the new professional had an operation due to a broken bone in his left foot. He suffered this injury in a practice session. In the 2017/18 season he played only one NBA appearance and played 38 games for Minnesota's training team Iowa Wolves in the NBA G-League . In September 2018, he injured his right foot in an exercise session and had to undergo an operation.

In November 2018, Patton was given to the Philadelphia 76ers under an exchange agreement with Jimmy Butler . In August 2019, the Oklahoma City Thunder signed him , in January 2020 Patton, who had been on the field in five games for Oklahoma City, ended up in a player swap with the Dallas Mavericks , but was immediately dismissed to make a place in the squad for the Willie Cauley stone brought at the same time . In late June 2020, Patton was signed by the Detroit Pistons .
