Luke Douglas Kennard (born June 24, 1996 in Middletown , Ohio ) is an American basketball player who has been under contract with the Detroit Pistons in the NBA since 2017 .

career

Kennard moved to his school days in which he for the Franklin High School in Franklin ( Ohio ) basketball and American football played at the Duke University . There he played under coach Mike Krzyzewski from the 2015 season .

In the shirt of the "Blue Devils", Kennard drew attention to himself as an accurate distance shooter and scored 143 three-pointers in a total of 73 games between 2015 and 2017 . In the 2016/17 game year he led Duke with an average of 19.5 points per game, and with 2.5 assists per game he was second in this category within the team.

NBA

Following this season, he made the leap into professional business and signed up for the 2017 NBA draft . In the league's selection process, the Detroit Pistons secured the rights to Kennard. He was selected as the twelfth player overall.

In early July 2017, Kennard was awarded a contract by the Pistons and had his first appearances with his new team in the NBA Summer League . Kennard was particularly convincing in his first NBA game year 2017/18 as a distance shooter and scored an average of 7.6 points per use.

National team

Kennard won gold with the U18 national team of his home country at the American Championship in 2014.
