Reinhard von Cottbus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reinhard von Cottbus (also Reinhart von Cottbus , probably died between 1448 and 1452) was Lord von Cottbus (1431-1445), Landvogt von Sternberg (1447-1448 / 52) and Vogt von Peitz (1448-1448 / 52).

Life

Reinhard was a son of Johann III. from Cottbus . With his brother Leuter (Luther) he robbed merchants from Cologne in 1420 . In 1431 both took over half of the city and half of Cottbus .

When the Cologne merchants again made claims for damages in 1441, they placed themselves under the protection of Elector Friedrich II of Brandenburg . Reinhard sold his share in 1445 for 5500 shock Bohemian groschen to Friedrich II. In 1447 he was appointed bailiff of Sternberg and received the Zantoch Castle . In 1448 he was enfeoffed for life with the Vogtei Peitz .

After that, he no longer appeared in written certificates. Since his wife Margarete received a personal property from the Elector at the castle and town of Peitz at the beginning of 1453, Reinhard had probably died shortly before.

He is probably not identical with Reinhard von Cottbus , who received the Lieberose rule in 1469 and died in 1475 without a male heir.
