New London is a city and administrative center of New London County in the US -amerikanischen State Connecticut .

New London is the seat of the development department of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer . This is also where Viagra , Pfizer's best-known product, was developed.

New London is Amtrak's Acela Express operated

New London lies between New York City and Boston and is crossed by Interstate 95 . The Amtrak station is on the north-east corridor and is served by several Acela Express trains.

Worcester is 119 km north (via Interstate 395 ) and Connecticut's capital, Hartford , is 85 km northwest.

New London is served by regional Southeast Area Transit buses as well as the three ferry companies, Cross Sound Ferry to Long Island , Ferry District to Fishers Island and, in the summer, the express ferry to Block Island .

The Groton-New London Airport is located in the neighboring town of Groton . TF Green and Bradley International Airports are within a 75 minute drive.

New London is home to Connecticut College , Mitchell College and the United States Coast Guard Academy , a central military training facility of the United States Coast Guard .

New London is also home to the Lyman Allyn Art Museum , including a collection of paintings by American artists from the past two hundred years.
