Cassie (actually Cassie Ventura * 26. August 1986 in New London , Connecticut ) is an American Contemporary R & B - singer , dancer and model .

biography

Cassie was born on August 26, 1986 in New London, Connecticut to a Filipino father and an African American - Mexican mother. In 2004 she graduated from the Williams School at Connecticut College and has since worked primarily as a model for the Wilhelmina Model Agency . During this time she stood in front of the lens for Adidas , Complex magazine and Abercrombie & Fitch , among others . She also modeled for department stores and Seventeen magazine .

Her musical talent was discovered only by chance. When her mother asked Cassie to get her a song for her birthday, she met up with producer and rapper Ryan Leslie , whom she had only recently met. Together they recorded the song Kiss Me , which Leslie later passed on to Tommy Mottola , chairman of Sony. Mottola took a liking to the material and hired Leslie to produce Cassie's debut album. A short time later, Diddy decided to sign the model with Bad Boy Records .

In the following months Cassie was invited to Germany to promote her song Me & U. After this had already gained popularity through the Internet and also received positive feedback in clubs, the song was presented to American radio stations . The single sometimes reaches number 3 in the American Billboard charts and reached the top 20 of the single charts in both Germany and Switzerland. On August 8, 2006, Cassie finally appeared the debut album in American, English and Australian record stores. In November 2006, Long Way 2 Go was the second release from the album.

Cassie (2008)

The singer is currently working on new material for her second studio album, as yet untitled. She will also appear for the first time as an actress in Step Up 2 , the sequel to the film hit from 2006. She also plays a small role in the video of the song Stronger by Kanye West .

In July 2007, MTV News denied that Cassie had lost her recording deal with Bad Boy Records. Diddy confirmed that she was working with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams on their second studio album, initially titled Connecticut Fever and later renamed Electro Love . The album was postponed several times as the pre-release singles Official Girl featuring Lil Wayne , Must Be Love featuring Diddy and Let's Get Crazy featuring Akon all flopped. In December 2009, Cassie signed a recording deal with Interscope Records and announced in Bust Magazine that she had already recorded fifty songs for a second studio album. Cassie starred in the music video for the Wiz Khalifa single Roll Up .

At the beginning of 2012 her second studio album entitled King of Hearts should finally be released. The preliminary single of the same name was released on February 14, 2012, but was not a commercial success despite positive feedback from critics. Another single called "Balcony" featuring Young Jeezy , which was released in September 2012, also received little attention. One of Cassie's songs with the title "Money on Love" was re-recorded by Nicki Minaj as The Boys and taken as a single from the re-release of her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded . Cassie appeared as a feature act on the Nicki Minaj version. In April 2013, instead of a new album, she finally released the mixtape entitled "#RockaByeBaby". In summer 2013 she was also present as the front girl of the Forever 21 collection.

After Cassie starred in the 2016 comedy The Perfect Match , it was revealed that she had signed a new deal with Epic and that the single "Make Up" was about to be released. In the summer she worked on the re-recording of the track '' Where is the love? '' from the Black Eyed Peas .
