history

The company was founded in 1967 under the name Wilhelmina Models by the Dutch model Wilhelmina Cooper and her husband Bruce Cooper as well as business partners Bill Weinberg and Fran Rothchild.

After Wilhelmina Cooper died in 1980, her business partners took over the company. In 1989 it was bought by Horst-Dieter Esch , a German-American businessman, for around four million US dollars . He led negotiations with Elite Model Management and Ford Models to bring the three companies together. In February 2009, Horst-Dieter Esch sold his shares in the company to New Century Equity Holdings Corp. for $ 22 million . As a result, the company was restructured to become an International Incorporation .

In 2012, the company expanded its portfolio, which until then had been focused exclusively on models, and opened a department that places actors and musicians with fashion companies.

In 2015 and 2016, the placement of models and artists was expanded to include placement in film and television companies. During those two years offices were also opened in London , Chicago and Los Angeles .
