Fabolous (2007)

Fabolous (born November 18, 1977 in Brooklyn , New York ; actually John Jackson ) is an American rapper . He is also known under the name "Loso".

biography

At the age of 18 he was signed to the record company Desert Storm . There he published several mix tapes. Through Elektra's Desert Storm cooperation , he also made a name for himself in mainstream rap, through features.

On September 11, 2001, his first album Ghetto Fabolous was released. Despite the attacks in New York and declining sales in the music industry, the album sold over 500,000 times by the end of the year. His second album Street Dreams was also able to build on the success.

In his texts he processes u. A. Personal events, such as the murder of a friend in a gang war (Can u hear me) . In 2003 he could be heard in the game NBA Live by EA Sports with the song It's in the Game .

In Germany he is best known for the number 1 hit Never Leave You together with Lumidee and Busta Rhymes .

Fabolous is also the founder of the fashion brand Rich Yung .

In 2006, Fabolous made his first appearance as an actor playing a man with a gun in Scary Movie 4 .

In June 2007 the album From Nothin 'to Somethin' was released. On this, among others, the rappers Swizz Beatz , Jay-Z , T-Pain , Akon and Joe Budden have guest appearances. From Nothin 'to Somethin' was awarded a gold record.

The follow-up album Loso's Way sold 99,000 copies in its debut week and reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 .

In December 2014, Fabolous' sixth studio album, The Young OG Project, was released with guest contributions from French Montana , Chris Brown and Kevin Hart . It reached number 12 on the Billboard 200 in its first week.

Violations of the law

On October 17, 2006, the rapper was shot in Manhattan. Fabolous left Diddy's restaurant Justin's with three companions. On the way through a parking garage, the group was shot at by a stranger. Fabolous hit a bullet in the thigh. On the way to the hospital, Fabolous and his companions were stopped by the police in a Dodge Magnum . This found two unregistered handguns in the rapper's car, which led to the arrest of the group. Fabolous was treated at the prison hospital.

The NYPD initially assumed that the attack on the Fabolous crew must have been a robbery . The reason for this assumption was that a few minutes earlier, NBA player Sebastian Telfair had a chain worth $ 64,000 ripped from his neck. The Boston Celtics player gave a description of the perpetrator to the police after the attack.

Some time later, however, footage taken with a security camera revealed that the perpetrator who snatched the chain from Telfair was a member of the Fabolous Gang. After the robbery, he joined Fabolous in Justin's restaurant . Telfair called his own "crew" instead of the police and waited for the perpetrator in front of the restaurant. Some time later there was an exchange of fire. However, the shooter who shot Fabolous was never located.
