Anuel AA (2018)

Anuel AA (born November 26, 1992 in Carolina , Puerto Rico ; real name: Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago ) is a Puerto Rican singer and rapper . He is considered one of the pioneers of the Latin trap , a mixture of reggaeton and trap .

biography

Emmanuel Gazmey's relationship with the music business goes back to his father: José Gazmey was an A&R manager and talent scout for Sony Music Entertainment in Puerto Rico. He himself gained notoriety under the pseudonym Anuel AA not through a music publisher, but through the Internet. From 2010 he published videos and gained more and more followers beyond the country's borders. He worked with Ozuna and Arcángel , among others , and was finally signed by Rick Ross to his label Maybach Music Group .

Although he was jailed in 2016 for his involvement in a case of illegal gun possession, this year he had his first successful publications, some of which were made while in prison. The mixtape Real hasta la muerte was received positively and with songs like Liberace and 47 he had initial success in the Spanish-speaking community in the USA. The breakthrough came in early 2017 with the first official single Sola , in particular through a remix with Daddy Yankee and Wisin . He placed himself in the US Latin charts and was also particularly successful in Spain. There he reached number 15 and stayed in the Spanish top 100 for over a year . He was a guest on Ozuna's number one Latin album Odisea and had another hit with the song Bebé, which he co-wrote .

Anuel AA's debut album followed in mid-2018, which, like the previous mixtape, is called Real hasta la muerte . It earned him the first place in the official US charts with number 51 . The released song Quiere beber became his first top 10 hit in Spain and the remix of it with Romeo Santos his first hit in the US single charts .

Around the same time, 6ix9ine had re-recorded the song Bebé with him. This version became an international hit beyond the Spanish-speaking world. It not only came to number 1 in the US Latin charts, but also to number 30 in the official single charts. In Spain it was the first number one hit with his participation and it reached chart positions throughout Europe. With Mala , another joint hit followed at the end of the year with second place in Spain as the best place. There were more this year top-10 finishes in Spain and the US Latin charts and numerous gold and platinum records in both countries.

At the beginning of 2019 the single Secreto was released with Karol G as a guest. It was his first own number one hit in Spain and another international hit.
