Carolina is a city on the American suburb of Puerto Rico . The city is located in the northeast of the island. It has about 186,000 inhabitants and borders both the Atlantic Ocean and the capital San Juan . Carolina forms the urban metropolis of the island with the surrounding cities of San Juan, Trujillo Alto , Gurabo and Juncos . The island's international airport is also located on the city's territory .
