Alfredo Escalera (* 21st March 1952 in Carolina , Puerto Rico ) is a former Puerto Rican boxer in the super featherweight division .
He made his professional debut in 1970 and suffered his first defeat the following year against Doc McClendon. He competed against the Japanese Kuniaki Shibata on July 5, 1975 for the WBC world title and won by a classic knockout in round 2.
He defended this belt a total of 10 times and lost it to Alexis Arguello in 1978 .
