Nicky Jam

Nick Rivera Caminero (* 17th March 1981 in Boston ), better known as Nicky Jam, is a reggaeton - singer . He is known for hits like El Perdón or Hasta el Amanecer .

Career

Nicky Jam's father is from Puerto Rico and his mother from the Dominican Republic . At the age of ten, he moved to Obrero , a barrio in the Puerto Rican capital, San Juan . In the 1990s he came into contact with the reggaeton genre and around 2000 he could be heard on some mixtapes by DJ Playero . In 2001 he first drew attention to himself with his solo album Haciendo escante , on whose title song Daddy Yankee sang along. His musical breakthrough came in 2004 with the album Vida escante .

With No soy tu marido he had his first hit in the Latin charts of the USA . Another international hit was Gas pela from the album The Black Carpet from 2007. In 2018, he sang the song Live It Up with Will Smith and Era Istrefi at the final of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and thus came to the top of his career. His albums are marketed through the music label Pina Records and he has already worked with several well-known greats of the genre, besides Daddy Yankee also with Don Chezina, Lito & Polaco, Big Boy , Rakim y Ken-Y and Héctor y Tito .

A time followed in which he stayed in the background as a songwriter, it wasn't until 2014 that he had his next international hit with Travesuras , which reached number 4 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs . He was also able to place himself in the charts in Spain for the first time and rose to number 3 in the Spanish charts in early 2015 . He then recorded the self-written song El perdón with Enrique Iglesias . They reached number one in the Spanish charts and stayed at the top for 18 weeks. Subsequently, the song also became a number one hit in Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. It was number 1 on the Latin charts in the US and was Jam's first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 .
