Maluma (singer)

Juan Luis Londoño Arias (* 28. January 1994 in Medellin , Colombia ), known by his stage name Maluma , is a Colombian reggaeton - singer . Through his cousin (Marcelo Santos), who works as a model, his musical career began as a child in his hometown of Medellín, from where he developed into a singer who is mainly known in Spanish- speaking countries.

Career

2010–12: Debut in the music business

His song Farandulera became a hit on local radios, whereupon the Colombian subsidiary of Sony Music decided to offer the singer a record deal, which he also signed. Then Maluma began to record his first studio album. The next single was Loco , a song about uncontrolled love.

Published in 2012 Maluma his first studio album entitled Magia , which in Colombia with Gold Award. The video for the single Obsesión was shot at the Antioquia Department train station and features the Colombian model Lina Posada. In addition to Obsesión , the tracks Miss Independent and Pasarla Bien were released as singles on the album, both of which made it into the top 3 of the Colombian charts. Maluma was also nominated for Best New Artist at the SHOCK Awards in 2012 .

2013: first major musical successes

In 2013 Maluma released the last two singles of his first album with Primer Amor and Miss Independent and then with La Temperatura the first single of his second album. This also reached positions in the top half of the charts and helped Maluma to nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2013 and the Latin Grammys .

2014 to date: The Voice Kids and other studio albums

Maluma (2015)

In 2014 Maluma released the music videos for La Curiosidad , Addicted and Carnaval and recorded songs with internationally known musicians such as Elvis Crespo . Despite his young age, Maluma is already regarded as one of the best singers of reggaeton in Latin America .

On June 21, 2014 he opened his Pretty Boy / Dirty Boy Tour in Lima , which took him through Bolivia , Canada , Colombia , the United States , Ecuador and Venezuela , among others . Furthermore, Maluma appeared in July 2014 at the Premios Juventud . That same month, he was announced as a juror for the talent show La Voz Kids , the Colombian version of The Voice Kids . In August 2014, Maluma also appeared on stage for the first time as a presenter at the first edition of the Kids' Choice Awards Colombia. Maluma was a guest musician in three different songs (Chantaje, Trap, Clandestino) by the Colombian singer Shakira in 2016 and 2018 , which made him even better known. On May 17, 2018 Maluma released his third studio album, which is called FAME (Fe, Alma, Música, Esencia). It contains 15 tracks, including a salsa (dance) version of Felices los 4 with Marc Anthony .
