Madame X is the 14th studio album by the American singer Madonna . It was released on June 14, 2019 by Interscope Records . Madonna herself co-wrote and co-produced the album and worked with numerous other music producers, including Mirwais , Mike Dean and Jason Evigan. It also includes guest posts from Maluma , Quavo , Swae Lee, and Anitta .

With the songs Medellín , Crave and Dark Ballet , Madonna presented the first three singles of her new album. The associated Madame X Tour began on September 17, 2019 and ended on March 8, 2020. It took place exclusively in North America and Europe. The album received mostly positive reviews from critics. Madame X hit the Billboard 200 chart and became her ninth number one album in the United States upon release.

Madonna announced in January 2018 that she was working on a new album. On the album she takes on the role of a secret agent as Madame X, "who travels the world, changes identities, fights for freedom, brings light to dark places".

Laut.de called the album “a bizarre work without a net and a false bottom”, but also wrote: “It challenges, doesn't let you relax. You can't really say anything better about music. ”The Guardian called Madame X Madonna's“ most bizarre album ever ”. There is "more density and adventure than at almost any other point in their career." The newspaper awarded four out of five stars. Michael Pilz called the albuma “feminist and futuristic masterpiece”in the world on Sunday . Thealbum received an average rating of 72 out of 100on Metacritic.com based on 14 reviews.
