I'm Going to Tell You a Secret is the name of the second tour documentary by the artist Madonna and the accompanying CD (CD length 65 min. 59 sec.).

background

As the successor to the tour documentary In Bed with Madonna from 1991, it deals with the background of the sold out " Re-Invention World Tour " from 2004, whereby Madonna, according to her own statements, in contrast to her predecessor, tried to make her tour everyday life less controversial and manipulative.

The film shows the way from the first conception of the tour, through the auditions of dancers and musicians, through the rehearsals, to the sold-out premiere evening and the subsequent controversial visit to Israel. As in In Bed with Madonna , the behind-the-scenes footage is again shown in black and white and the live songs in color.

Film director Jonas Åkerlund accompanied the tour and produced a film that received praise from the first critics - however, the religious message of the Kabbalah follower sometimes seemed quite intrusive. For this reason, too, a premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 was canceled - and the planned theatrical release was also completely discarded. In fact, “prayers” recur repeatedly in the film, but they have less to do with God as a personal counterpart than with the artist's self-presentation and convictions of values appealing to the psychological dynamics of the group. At that time Madonna was producing her album Confessions on a Dance Floor and they wanted to wait for the audience response before they wanted to exploit the film any further. In October 2005 it was decided to support the new album with a TV broadcast of the documentary on MTV, where it was successfully broadcast in several countries.

The documentation (working title Re-Invented Process ) was published on June 6, 2006 on DVD / CD.
