The Virgin Tour was the first tour of the American pop singer Madonna . It took place in the spring of 1985. Although concerts outside of North America were initially planned, the tour was only held in the USA and Canada. The set list consisted of tracks from Madonna's first two solo albums Madonna (1983) and Like a Virgin (1984). The stage was developed by her brother Christopher Ciccone.

The Beastie Boys appeared as the opening act .

Live - The Virgin Tour

A live recording of the tour was released on VHS on November 13, 1985 . This was recorded when it performed in Detroit on May 25 and directed by Daniel Kleinman . The live video reached number one in the US music video charts in early 1986 and became the best-selling music video of the year in the US. It was awarded 2 × platinum for over 200,000 units sold.

Sometimes a version has also appeared on Laserdisc ; it has not yet been released on DVD.
